Desire
to improve performance is clearly stated as the primary
or secondary goal of consultation
Athletic (coaching, managerial) performance has been
consistently greater than the current level or performance
progress has been slowed (performance “slump”,
“burnout”).
Client is generally psychologically healthy but identifiable
psychological barriers are negatively affecting them.
Overall psychological and behavioural function are somewhat
reduced.
The athlete (coach, manager) may benefit from developing
some self-regulatory skills as a secondary intervention
but psychological counselling/ treatment is the first
approach.
