Clinical
issues clearly exist causing extreme emotional distress
or behavioural dysfunction; possibly resulting in reduced
performance or total inability to compete. Clinical
issues severely impair at least one major aspect of
life such as familial, social-interpersonal, self-care,
recreational, educational and occupational; Performance
enhancement while possibly desired, is clearly of secondary
importance to clinical issues affecting the person;
Intensive psychological treatment (possibly including
psychotropic medication) is the intervention of choice.
This may include cooperation and collaboration with
the clients own GP or other medical professionals.
